TESMI Nigeria Opens Applications for 50 Lagos Schoolgirls to Co-Draft Menstrual Justice Charter

Lagos, Nigeria — 12 September 2026. Teens Smart Builder Initiative (TESMI Nigeria) has opened applications for 50 girls attending private secondary schools in Lagos to take part in co-drafting a Menstrual Justice Charter, under the organisation's #BleedWithDignity campaign.
The Charter is being developed to carry girls' own experiences and priorities directly into wider conversations on menstrual health and hygiene, school water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), menstrual dignity, access, stigma, and related policy advocacy in Lagos.
Why TESMI Nigeria Is Recruiting 50 Girls
#BleedWithDignity: Centering Girls' Voices for Menstrual Policy Reform in Lagos is being implemented by TESMI Nigeria with support from AmplifyChange. Rather than treating girls as subjects to be consulted after key decisions have already been made, the project is structured so that girls contribute directly to the document itself.

What Participation Will Involve
Selected participants will contribute to the co-drafting process, bringing their lived experiences and priorities into a document intended to shape how menstrual health is understood and addressed in policy and advocacy spaces across Lagos.

Why Fifty Girls
TESMI Nigeria says the number of participants was chosen deliberately, to keep the process manageable while still reflecting a genuine range of girls' experiences.

Who Can Apply
Eligible applicants are girls attending private secondary schools in Lagos Mainland. Interested and eligible girls are encouraged to apply as soon as possible ahead of the closing date.
